About Our Founder

Khulisa Abantwana was founded by Cindy, a woman whose journey of compassion, leadership, and community-building has touched lives across two continents.

After spending 18 years in the UK, Cindy built her own successful swim school, where she not only taught children to swim but also created a teacher training program that empowered young people with skills and opportunities for the future. Her work in the UK reflected her deep belief in education, mentorship, and equipping the next generation with the tools to thrive.

When Cindy and her family returned home to Cape Town, she brought that same passion and vision to Du Noon, a community close to her heart. What began with providing meals for hungry children during the Easter holidays soon grew into something much bigger—a movement of hope and opportunity. With the help of her community in London and new supporters in South Africa, she launched initiatives like book and blanket drives, which have since created 39 Reading Corners and delivered thousands of meals, clothes, and essentials to children in need.

Cindy is not only a founder but also a mother, a wife, and a cherished friend—someone who inspires others through her generosity and determination. Guided by the spirit of Ubuntu, she believes that by nurturing one child, we nurture a whole community, and ultimately, a nation.
